I’m Jacinta Oaten, a queer photographer who’s spent close to two decades completely immersed in my craft. For the last two years, I’ve run The Lavender Haze Weddings, creating space for young queer shooters, but long before that, my world revolved around pushing myself to be the best photographer I could be.
Along the way, I’ve developed as a filmmaker, too, and my love for storytelling has only deepened—whether in commercial spaces, in the vibrant world of theatre and fashion, or capturing the raw energy of queer life in sacred community spaces. At the core of it all, my work is about documenting people in their truth and creating space for them to be unapologetically themselves.
Connecting with people is everything. Storytelling isn’t just about making something look good—it’s about cutting through the noise and getting to what’s real. Whether I’m shooting a wedding, a campaign, or the chaos of a packed club at 3 AM, I want people to see themselves in the work, exactly as they are. That’s what makes it feel personal.
At the same time, years of experience across so many different spaces—commercial, editorial, theatre, fashion, nightlife—means I know how to make any setting work. Whether it’s crafting cinematic light from scratch or chasing the perfect natural glow, I know how to shape an environment to feel effortless. That’s what makes the experience seamless, whether I’m working with a creative team on a campaign or making sure a couple feels at ease in front of the lens. The result is images that don’t just capture a moment but feel like stepping right back into it.
I can’t wait to hear about your upcoming project and see how we can bring it to life.
GOt the message yet, doll?
I WOn'T LET YOU GET DULL IMAGES.
Promise.
Ever been to a wedding and thought, "Omg, this is the dullest shit I’ve ever seen?"
Me too. That’s why I work with couples who want their day to actually feel like them—not some cookie-cutter production with a side of awkward formalities.
I want to see your freak flag fly. But in a classy way. Whether that means an intimate dinner party, a neon-lit warehouse bash, or a barefoot ceremony in the bush, I’m here to make sure your wedding is a reflection of you, not just a box to tick.
Yeah, I know—everyone says bespoke experiences. But I actually know what the hell I’m talking about. Ask me how I can do it for you.
